The letter below along with a letter from Mountain and Sea Adventure went out to each student in grades 6-8. Please return the proper forms by or before the 21st of January.

As part of the Science program, our junior high will be attending a 3-day field trip to Marine Science Adventure Camp at Catalina Island through Mountain and Sea Adventures. The trip will give students an opportunity to complete field studies and to apply some of the science techniques studied during the year. This adventure will depart on Wednesday, March 26th at 6:30 a.m. and return Friday, March 28th , 2014 at apx. 3:30 p.m.
The total price for this trip will be : $275 Costs will cover:
-Bus transportation to dock and back
-Ferry costs to Emerald Bay and back
-All activities and excursions
-Meals for all days (except Wed.) All meals will be group meals except for lunch on Wednesday. Students are asked to bring bag lunches for that day. PLEASE NOTE ANY SPECIAL DIETARY NEEDS on form.
I will be chapeoroning this trip along with Mrs. Widmann and Miss Barnhill. It is critical that we get parent volunteers. Parents are essential as cabin/group leaders and supervisors. There is usually difficulty in getting dads (hint). All volunteers will need to be Virtus trained by the start of March. Parent volunteers will have to pay $275. There will be a maximum of 4-5 parents. The decision as to who will come is based on the order by which I receive the responses, gender ratio, and other student-specific factors. We strongly believe that participation in this trip is a privilege not a right. Although we believe the likelihood of a problem is very small, this privilege will be denied if any student’s behavior is deemed “at risk” between now and the day of the trip. If this determination is made, trip monies will not be refunded. Students will not participate in the trip for the following reasons:
1. Any discipline referral that results in an in-school or out-of-school suspension.
2. A total of 3 detentions between now and the day of the trip.
3. A grade point average lower than 2.0 (determined at the end of the 2nd trimester)
Please send in your registration form with a $150 deposit (or full payment of $275) by January 20th. We will ask for a second payment mid-February. Please read the packet enclosed carefully all forms (camp history form, waiver of liability and the rules/discipline policy form) within the packet will be due by the 5th of February.
