A Lenten Prayer: How to Fast

Fast from judging others; feast on the Christ dwelling within them.
Fast from emphasis on differences; feast on the unity of all life.
Fast from apparent darkness; feast on the reality of light.
Fast from words that pollute; feast on phrases that purify.
Fast from discontent; feast on gratitude.
Fast from anger; feast on patience.
Fast from pessimism; feast on optimism.
Fast from worry; feast on trust.
Fast from complaining; feast on appreciation.
Fast from negatives; feast on affirmatives.
Fast from unrelenting pressures; feast on unceasing prayer.
Fast from hostility; feast on nonviolence.
Fast from bitterness; feast on forgiveness.
Fast from self-concern; feast on compassion for others.
Fast from personal anxiety; feast on eternal truth.
Fast from discouragement; feast on hope.
Fast from facts that depress; feast on truths that uplift.
Fast from lethargy; feast on enthusiasm.
Fast from suspicion; feast on truth.
Fast from thoughts that weaken; feast on promises that inspire.
Fast from idle gossip; feast on purposeful silence.

Gentle God, during this season of fasting and feasting, gift us with Your Presence, so we can be gift to others in carrying out your work. Amen.

GO RED!

On February 2, 2007, cities across the country went Red by illuminating buildings and monuments in red to raise awareness of women and heart disease.

Since Go Red For Women launched in 2004, cities have turned landmarks red, including the Washington Monument, Niagara Falls, the Empire State Building, the Baylor University Tower and more, during February, American Heart Month.
Check out the cities that went red (very cool):

Brain Booster

Toast For Three-Dad is preparing breakfast for his three children — Dan, Ed, and Frank. Each boy wants Dad to toast 1 slice of bread for him. The family’s toaster holds only 2 slices of bread and toasts only 1 side at a time. The person who toasts bread has to toast one side of a slice of bread, take out the slice, turn it over, and put it back in the toaster to toast the other side. It takes exactly 1 minute to toast 1 side of a piece of bread. Dad has figured out how to toast 3 slices on both sides in only 3 minutes. How does he do it?

Floating hotel set for flight

A 700-foot floating hotel, which resembles the Thunderbird 2 from the 1960s television series, “Thunderbirds”, has been set for development, a report said. The Manned Cloud is a flying hotel that is intended to carry 40 guests around the world while floating at an altitude of 18,000 feet, the Daily Mail reported Saturday.

“The Manned Cloud permits you to explore the world without leaving a trace. Passengers can experience spectacular and exotic places without being intrusive or exploitative,” a spokesman said.

The structure — which is being built by the French Company Massaud — will have 20 bedrooms, a restaurant, gym, lounge and library, the newspaper said.

The Manned Cloud is set to take off for the first time in 2020.

Luxury Floating Hotel in the Air

Worldwide Aeros Corporation are co-developing with WATG a flying Hotel and speculate the behemoth cruise liner complete with staterooms, restaurants, shops, etc. will be built by 2010. Testing will begin in 18 months on a smaller test version of the Lighter Than Air Vehicle. The proposed 850-foot-long luxury liner is called Aeroscraft, and although it looks like a blimp and uses some blimp technology, Aeros company spokesman Edward Pevzner is quick to point out, “It’s NOT a blimp.” The Aeroscraft uses lifting gas like an airship, but incorporates dynamic liftoff similar to an airplane and is capable of vertical takeoff and landing like a helicopter.

The Aeros Corporation is one of the world’s leading lighter-than-air (LTA) airship manufacturers. WATG (Wimberly Allison Tong & Goo) are a design consultant for the hospitality, leisure and entertainment industries.

Ever wonder…

Why the sun lightens our hair,
        but darkens our skin ?

Why women can’t put on mascara with their mouth closed?

Why don’t you ever see the headline “Psychic Wins Lottery”?

Why is “abbreviated” such a long word?

Why is it that doctors call what they do “practice”?

Why is lemon juice made with artificial flavor, and dishwashing liquid made with real lemons?

Why is the man who invests all your money called a broker?

Why is the time of day with the slowest traffic called rush hour?

Why isn’t there mouse-flavored cat food?

Why didn’t Noah swat those two mosquitoes?

Why do they sterilize the needle for lethal injections?

You know that indestructible black box that is used on airplanes? Why don’t they make the whole plane out of that stuff?!

Why don’t sheep shrink when it rains?

Why are they called apartments when
        they are all stuck together?

If con is the opposite of pro, is Congress the opposite of progress?

        If flying is so safe,
why do they call the airport the terminal?
